About us
The Syrian DNA Project is a scientific and cultural initiative aimed at exploring the genetic origins, diversity, and migration history of the Syrian population. By collecting and analyzing DNA samples from individuals of Syrian descent—both within Syria and throughout the global diaspora—the project seeks to uncover deep ancestral lineages, identify regional genetic patterns, and contribute to the broader understanding of the Levant's ancient and modern population dynamics.
This project will integrate genetics, history, anthropology, and linguistics to highlight Syria’s unique position as a crossroads of civilizations. Results will be used to build a comprehensive genetic map of Syrians, connect individuals with shared ancestry, and preserve the genetic legacy of communities that are underrepresented or endangered due to conflict and displacement.
The Syrian DNA Project is inclusive and welcomes participation from all Syrians—regardless of ethnicity, religion, or region—to celebrate the rich genetic mosaic of this ancient land.
