Francis Sturgill Sr. (son of James Sturgill and Ann Calloway) was born about 1755 in Green or Orange County, VA and moved to Ashe County with his parents. Francis Sr. died 01 Dec 1807; his wife was Rebecca Hash (abt 1758 - 1841) and they had 12 children - 6 sons and 6 daughters: Lydia, John, James, Francis Jr, William, Joel, David, Rebecca, Jane, Ann, Elizabeth and Nancy.
