About us
The goal of the Seery / Sierer project is to compare Seery and Sierer Y-DNA samples to shed light on how (or even if) these names are related.
The surname seems to be derived from 2 distinct sources, the first being found most commonly in the County of Westmeath in Ireland and the second as a version of the French surname Sierer which was changed to Seery when some immigrants arrived in the USA.
Also, as some Irish Seerys changed their name to Freeman in the Irish Counties of Mayo, Roscommon and Sligo, we hope to discover a deeper story to their earlier origins.
Further background, results & analysis fro the Seery-Freeman Irish research can be found at

FREE Big Y 700 tests may be offered to suitable Seery/Freeman candidates who have ancestors from Mayo, Roscommon, Sligo, Westmeath or Fermanagh. E-mail the admin for details.
