The Renison project is designed to trace the surnames Renison and Rennison and variants including Rennisson, Renesen, and Renason, using y-DNA testing of male members whose surnames match the name variants above. By testing the Y DNA of men with the names above, and comparing family tree information, it is hoped that common ancestors can be identified, and the origin of the name established. It will be helpful to have some paternal lineage information uploaded to your family tree in combination with Y DNA testing. If you are wondering whether a Y-37 or Y-67 test is best to start off with, consider doing the Y-37 test first, although the Y-67 will provide more complete information and will enable us to pinpoint with more accuracy genetic distance between different participants.
