Denis Relyea (likely born as Denyse Ariens Relje 1673-1740) appears to be the first known Relyea family member. His first traces are in Ulster County, NY. (witness in New Paltz church 1693, first resident in Marlboro, NY, etc...) Descended from he and Elizabeth Le Roy have been 10+ generations of Relyea's in the Hudson Valley and well beyond. This project hopes to serve as a way for Relyea family members to help determine which part of the Relyea family tree they have descended from. When the project admin first did a Y-test (Big Y-700) in 2026, he had 3 other close matches. We'd love to see more Relyea family members do a Big-Y 700 test so that they can determine/confirm where in the tree they come from and help others determine/confirm their location in the tree as well.
