The purpose of this surname group is to support all those trying to uncover genealogical connections and findings. We anticipate that as the group membership grows, the increased data will provide these discoveries.

While the project originally was established as a Ydna project, we have increased the project scope to encourage collaboration and discoveries. Therefore, we have opened up participation to all Ydna, mtdna and Family Finder dna testers.

Y dna provides groupings of shared dna of the paternal line only. Identifying the direct male line of shared dna

Mt dna identifies the dna of the direct maternal line of dna only.  If you have had mt dna testing it is important to identify where the Rafferty connection is on your family tree

Family Finder dna, identifies members of shared autosomes rather than sex chromosomes. This pairs shared dna across the family spectrum.
