Hello, I am adopted, and I have a large Irish and Scottish DNA match. Trying to find out more about by history, I don't know if my DNA is applicable or not. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated. Still have a lot to learn.

Hello Larry Ok, I see what you have taken, you have done the FF (Family Finder). For you to be able to find more info that would help you on your journey you should do an SNP test. The best one to take is the BigY test. Or you could take one of the lesser tests Y-111, Y-67, I wouldn't do less than Y 67. If you do the Y 67 it will get you close to a destination and then once you know about where you are you can take more focused tests. If you do the Big-Y it will give you everything in your SNP's to work with and give you your terminal SNP information. Let me know if this helps any, we are here to help if we can.

I know my father was Scot/Irish and my mother was Polish. Other than that, my adoption papers didn't mention anything else.

Ok everyone, we need more bodies to make this work really well. So I have been looking around a lot at M269 people who are very close to my numbers, not a lot but enough to make things grow a bit. I think I will invite a couple and see what happens Regards Dave

Has 303623 Cameron tested positive for any SNPs? I see 125142 Cameron is CTS1751, though only tested to 37 markers. Cameron 223484 has 413a/b = 16/23. Both link to Scotland. Their is another kit in the Cameron project who is 413a/b=16/23, but he doesnt have a ancestor name listed. 342053 from Ireland. I'm pretty sure most of the men with 413a/b = 16/23 etc will be at least BY595

Good Day I have a few Cameron's who are very close to me 3 markers off on 67. I have left notes in the Cameron section asking them to join. Where my family came from Oban Morar on Loch Morar, there was a group of Cameron's who lived just opposite my MacMaster's in Kin Loch Morar. They came to Canada the same year as my family in 1801. Have to see if they will come over to this group again. Regards Dave

Hi Dave, glad you got this group up and running. I noticed today that Jack Fallin and Gary Markham have been assigned a new haplogroup by FTDNA, BY11097. This sits below S22219 on the FTDNA Haplotree. Cheers Frances
