About us
My name is Andrew Quintana (R-Z279), and I am the new co-administrator of the FTDNA Quintana surname project. I addition, I am the account manager of my 90 year old father Ricardo Salvador Quintana, who is also a member of this project. I thought I would start things off by providing you with some background on my Quintana paternal line. My 8th great grandfather was born in Spain, and migrated to Mexico City, while my 7th great grandfather was born and died in Mexico City. Then my 6th great grandfather Miguel de Quintana (born in Mexico City), was part of the 1693 Vargas expedition, and was part of the earliest Spanish groups that settled in the Santa Cruz, New Mexico area. The next two generations, my 4th and 5th great grandfathers, spent most of their lives in the Santa Cruz, New Mexico area. Next, my 2nd and 3rd great grandfathers were from San Ildefonso, NM, and my great grandfather lived in Abiquiu, NM. Finally, my grandfather, father and myself reside in Colorado. On my father's mtDNA line (C1b11), generation 1-3 lived in Colorado, and generations 4-10 lived in New Mexico. Since some Spanish explorers/settlers did not come with their spouses, there were relationships with Native American women. In the future I would like to add an activity feed option, so members of this project can share their YDNA Quintana lines. Finally, I want to grow this project with new members, and upgrade existing members to the YDNA111 or BigY tests. This will allow us to provide even better analysis for you, and advance your Quintana lines. Anyway, I am excited to help out with the Quintana project, and having the opportunity to learn more about it's members
Regards,
Andrew Quintana
