About us

Probasco/Bartoszewski/Bartos DNA Project:
This Y-DNA project was set up initially to study the results of our participants to determine where our ancestors may have originated in the world. The Y-DNA (male only) results from the Probasco and Bartoszewski project prove that the two surnames came from a common ancestor between 1411 AD and 1531 AD. We have an unusual Y-DNA value combination that is rarer than the typical result, and by studying the Y-DNA results of those with the surnames listed we hope to determine our origin. We also are studying the surname Bartos which comes from shortened versions of the listed surnames.

We are working in conjunction with the National Genographic Project spearheaded by National Geographic and the YHRD international DNA databank to make this determination.

Other surname projects included in this project are:

Hamilton-J2 DNA Project:
This project was set up to study the results of participants who descend from Leonard Hamilton b. 1786 Buckingham County, VA to Green County, KY, and Isham Hamilton b. 1769 of Washington County, KY.

Kerger DNA Project:
This project was set up to study the results of Kerger participants who immigrated from Germany to North America.

Kolarcik DNA Project:
This project was set up to study the results of Kolarcik, Kolarchic (and various spellings) participants who migrated from Slovakia, Hungary, Austria, Czech Republic, etc. to North America.

Rager DNA Project:
This project was set up to study the results of Rager, Reager participants.

We need the participation of all with the listed surnames to accomplish our goals.
