About us
Roughly 80 different Pound or Pounds families have come to the United States, mostly from England but a few are from Germany and other countries (they originally carried the name Pfund). Approximately 80 percent of all Pound family members in the United States are descended from two men, John Pound of Piscataway, New Jersey, died about 1692, and John Pound of Richmond Co., VA, who died about 1717. They are not known to be closely related. In England there are many different Pound-Pounds families, mostly scattered across the southern tier of counties south and west of London.
