10 September 2023 - Admin responded to concerns of copyright by shutting down the Facebook group "Pinkerton Surname Project". 

30 August 2023-Admin has transferred all surname data, once populated on this site to the Face Book group "Pinkerton Surname Project".  Members seeking previous posted information on the surname should join the FB group.  This group will be focused entirely on members DNA and matches within the group.  We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.  The mtDNA portion of the results have been opened as well, but may be discontinued if the numbers in the group grow past the hundreds.  

15 August 2023-The Pinkerton Surname Project on Facebook is now up and running.  This pretty much mirrors this site, however not everyone uses FTDNA so we duplicated on Facebook for those Pinkertons.  It is a private group so you will have to request access, please follow the link below and be sure to invite you Pinkerton cousins on Facebook to join.  Pinkerton Surname Project | Facebook

13 August 2023-A Pinkerton Surname Project is being developed on Facebook, but we encourage DNA members to use and promote this site for the project.  Additionally, a one name study tree (shell) has been populated in Ancestry, it starts with a PINKERTON place holder, followed by 25 Pinkerton Lines.  Pinkerton families will be assigned a Pinkerton Line Number.  Once assigned it can be populated by that family Point of Contact, for privacy concerns each line should not include living persons, please keep those persons in your own accounts on ancestry.
