About us

Over the past two decades a number of Pidgeon researchers have compiled up to 100 family trees. Some of these today use the names Pigeon or Pidgen. Many of them originate in Devon, England. Others originate in Norfolk, Shropshire or other central counties in England. Some came to England from Ireland. Pigeon families came to England from Jersey.
Emigration of Pidgeon families from England and Ireland occurred from very early times - to America and Canada, to Australia and New Zealand. At least two Pigeon families in Quebec, Canda came from France.
How many of these different Pidgeon families are related? Do we all have a common ancestor, or are we different "flocks" using the same name?
This project complements my Pidgeon Genealogy research (see, also being undertaken as a Member of the Guild of One-Name Studies.
