The first mention of the Pickerel surname appears in Colonial America in Maryland in 1660. Today there are thousands of Pickerel names with many spelling variants in the United States. Who were these first immigrants? Why do they come to this new land? Did they come voluntarily or in bondage?  Did they bring families?  What were their dreams?  Working together, sharing our research skills and the DNA these early immigrants passed on to us, we hope to find the connections to our relationships with each other.
