Peer / Pier / Lapier / Lapierre

Y-DNA research project of male lines for all variations of the surname

About us

If you are a Peer, Pier, Pear, Lapeer, LaPierre, Pierre, Pierron, Pion, Birnbaum, or Peers, Pearce, Pierce, Speer, we invite you to join this project and participate in a study to help sort out the various Peer families.

Please order your kit, join and sign in to the project page, provide us with information on how to contact you by email, and share your known Peer lineage so that we can help show you what group you belong to.

The test that we are recommending for all study participants is at minimum, the 37 marker Y-DNA test. You can always upgrade later to 67 or 111 markers (we recommend for everyone to eventually upgrade to 111 markers).

The testing can only be done on males with the Peer/Pier last name because it is looking at the direct paternal line (fathers, fathers, fathers, etc...) data only. A woman can participate in this Y-chromosome test by paying for (or convincing) a male Peer relative to take the test.
