About us

Another match in the "Peer 1" group which is connected to Philip Pear/Pear (1735-1799). Now four testers match closely. The newest match may go back to Philip Peer, or could go back to a brother or cousin of his. After Philip Pear/Peer moved from NJ to the Cedar Creek area of Shenandoah Co., VA in 1778, there was a Jacob Pear/Peer father and son that lived nearby, but the relationship of them to Philip has not been officially determined, though it has always been assumed that they were close relatives to Philip. Jacob Pear/Peer arrived in the USA in 1730.

We would love to get one or two descendants of Theunis/Tunis Jansen Pier, who originated in NY/NJ to test, so that we can determine if Philip Peer descends from Teunis/Tunis Jansen Pier and thus originates from The Netherlands as well, or if Philip Peer is a separate Peer line and came from Germany. If you know of anyone who can trace their direct male ancestry back to Teunis/Tunis Pier please encourage them to join this group and do a yDNA test.  or one of his sons: Johanus, Thomas, Abraham, or Jacob (NJ>Ontario),

We now have one descendant tested from Philip Pear/Peer (1735-1799) who was born in NY/NJ and then moved to Shenandoah Co., VA in 1778 and has numerous modern day Peer descendants. Two other Peer testers are close yDNA matches to this person in "Peer Group 1". One is only a single marker off at 37 markers (36/37 match), and the other is only three markers off at 37 markers (34/37 match).
