1/25/2016 - SNP testing for the Pattinson family of Carlisle has shown that the are in the R-DF27 > ZZ12 > ZZ41 > BY3291 > Z20907.  The Z20907 SNP currently is shared with one other known family (Lancaster) and may represent a split with the Lancaster family about 1000 years ago.  Another family also likely broke off of the Pattinson line a few centuries after the Lancaster men did.  The Threatt family matches the Pattinson men with several unique mutations on string markers, DYS444, DYS520, DYS710, DYS463, DYS712, DYS532 and DYS635 that the Lancaster men do not carry.  It seems like we're finally beginning to peek at the family tree before surnames were used.
