Welcome to the Noble-Ulster/Borders Family Finder Project. This Project is a study of the Noble (and other genetically related) surnames that is based on the Y-Chromosome (Y-DNA). Women may participate in the Y-DNA testing by proxy (i.e., have a male NOBLE relative take the test). The Project is designed to test the origins of members of the Noble surname who came to populate the Ulster/Border regions of the UK. That is, along the English/Scottish Border, including descendants of 'transplants' to Ulster, the United States, Canada, Australia, and around the world. Specifically, our primary interest is NOBLES of R-DF27 descent. New Testers: For new testers we encourage a Y-37 test to start, at the minimum, so that we may vet your results and determine if this Project is right for you. If not, we will suggest another project (or projects) where you would be better placed. Once placed in our Project and In order to get the most from your Y-DNA test results we suggest you join with the intention to upgrade to BIG-Y700 as soon as reasonably possible. Existing Testers: For those who have already tested, we welcome you to join our Project presuming you are NOBLES of R-DF27 descent and/or descendants of the Nobles of the Ulster/Scots Borders.
