The objectives of this project are to:
• Determine whether or not the immigrants, Jacob Mumma, Leonard Mumma and Peter Mumma (arrived in 1731, 1732 & 1748 respectively) shared a common ancestor and were closely related.
• Determine whether or not similar surnames such as Mummey, Moomey, Moomaugh, Mewmaw, and Mumme are related to the Mumma family.
• Determine whether or not the Mumma family of American and the Momma families of Germany are closely related and share a common ancestor.
• Determine a DNA "signature" for the Mumma family and use it as a tool to help connect men to specific branches.
