About us
R-BY3374 represents a people who were descendants of a progenitor who likely carried the "Mure" (or similar) surname, and lived in Southwest Scotland (likely in the area of Kilmaurs, Ayrshire). Given the estimated emergence of R-BY3374 (ca. 1200 AD/CE), this could have been a David de Mure, likely born in the 3rd quarter of the 12th century. The Mure/Muir/Moore line of the R-BY3374 haplotree can also be found under the Group 47 series in the Moore Y DNA Project.
There is no primary source material/evidence that the line was O'Mor, or originated in Ireland. This R-BY3374 line is also not descended from, or closely related, to the O'Mordha line of County Laois, Ireland, which has been proven to a different haplotree (L21>S552>DF13>FGC11134>FGC12055>Z3026>Z16250>A114>CTS4466>S1115>FGC84010>A663>FT17696>A2289+... see Group 54 in the Moore Y DNA Project).
