About us
Project News:
A General Fund has been established to offer Y-DNA test kits free of charge to qualified individuals.
This offer is limited to the first candidate who is a direct paternal descendant of one of the following lines:
1. David Mozley 1770 – 1850, (son of Edward Mozley).
2. John Mozley 1771 – 1849, (son of Edward Mozley).
3. James Mozley 1763–1830 (son of Walter Mozley 1729 - 1800)
4. William Mozley 1763–1805 (son of Walter Mozley 1729 - 1800)
5. Henry MOZLEY 1785-1870 of Pennsylvania.
6. Male Mozley living in the UK with a paper trail of your ancestry.
Mozley descendants wishing to participate in this offer may apply confidentially by e-mail. Briefly describe your Mozley ancestry and goals. Your message will be answered promptly by the project administrator.
With additional funding, we could offer testing to more participants with an economic concern. We are seeking donations to our general fund to help facilitate the goals of the project. Your gift may be made anonymously if you choose. Follow this link for information: http://www.familytreedna.com/contribution.html (or click the link on the left side of the page.)
Additionally, we are seeking at least one donor for each of the five sons of Edward Mozley. Two are recommended. (We would gladly welcome as many as we can get). We are also focusing on testing the lines of enough sons of the five brothers to determine each branch's markers patterns. Our goal is to identify the primary halotype of James, the immigrant and map the DNA and mutations that occurred as his DNA was passed down through his sons and grandsons. Hopefully, we can one day use this information to find a match to our James Mozley, the immigrant across the ocean. If everyone will help in their particular branch of the tree, this can be done.
An enormous thank you to Norman Adolphus Mozley b.1865 and his grandfather John Norman Mozley b. abt 1816 for taking the time to preserve our Mozley history in what has come to be known as the Mozley Family Abstract. This document has guided Mozley research for all of us.
I would like to recognize the late RAYMOND G. MOZLEY. His years of work on the Mozleys provided the cornerstone of our family history. He spent countless hours researching our history and shared this information with all of us.
Co-Administrator Russell J Mozley has kindly made a copy of Raymond's manuscript available online to fellow researchers of the Mozley family. To access the manuscript go to www.ancestryconnections.com and do a search for "Mozley". You may also access the document by copying and pasting the following link into your browser.

I also would like to thank Mona Herrin. She has researched the Mozleys for years, freely sharing and helping anyone who contacts her. More importantly, she has collected data from researchers of the various branches and twigs of our Mozley tree and placed it together on one web site to benefit us all. The James Mozley Descendant worksheet was designed with information from Mona's website.

So many have worked on our family through the years. If I am missing someone, (no doubt I am) please send me an email so we can make sure you/they get credit here. If you would like your email address with your name, let me know. Thanks, Ann
Family tree DNA allows you to be a member of more than one dna project at no additional cost. Our Mozley project had its beginnings within the Mosley/Moseley DNA Project. We subsequently branched off as a separate project to focus on objectives specific to our Mozley family. Several of us have remained members of that group. I encourage you to join the Mosley/Moseley group. Lynda Moseley and Carolyn Brown are project administrators of that group and do a very good job.
