About us
The Montanez surname most probably came to the Americas from the Iberian Peninsula, and may be of Basque origin. The name and its variants are common in both the North and South American continents, as well as throughout Central America and the Caribbean.
Individual with variants of this surname are also prevalent in the French Canadian provinces. It is my hope that through this project the place of origin and the migration of the descendants of the founding clan of this widely scattered family can be documented.
If you are a male with this surname or one of it's variants I invite you to join the project as a way to rediscover lost connections, and gain a better understanding of who we are and where we have come from.
ATTENTION:
All participants of the National Geographic Genographic DNA Project with this, or a variant of this surname are welcome to join the Montanez Surname Project!
