DNA testing for relatives of Miles MORGAN of Springfield, Massachusetts Bay Colony (d. 1699), and now also for relatives of James MORGAN of New London, Connecticut Colony (d. 1685). The Miles Morgan Origins Project seeks to find the origins and ancestry of Miles Morgan. Miles joined the community of Springfield by 1643/4, married twice, and had nine children and many grandchildren before his death in 1699. He appears to have several hundred male line descendants living today, 9 to 12 generations later. Yet Miles’ origins remain shrouded in legend, with no solid underlying proof. The Miles Morgan Origins Project is working to solve this mystery. If you believe that you (or a close Y DNA-carrying relation) may be descended from Miles Morgan, or a descendant of Miles Morgan's male-line ancestors, please join this project and support the search. James Morgan of New London may have been Miles' brother or close cousin. He became a resident of Roxbury, MA in 1640, moved to New London, CT in 1650, and to the part of New London that was to become Groton, CT in 1657. He married Margery Hill and with her had a family of six children, becoming one of the area's principal leaders and business men.
