The Global Middaugh Surname DNA Project aims to supplement genealogical research on Middaugh families with genetic evidence in hopes of further developing the Middaugh surname family tree. The earliest/oldest records of the Middaugh surname found thus far are in the Netherlands (Holland). Family members and ancestors can be found in civil and church archives as early as 1480. In these early Dutch records, the family surname is usually seen as MIDDACH.  The Global Middaugh DNA Project welcomes and encourages participation by any Middaugh family from any part of the world. It is hoped that this project will yield genetic evidence for degrees of kinship or non-relatedness between the various family lines when documentary evidence is lacking or ambiguous. It is further hoped that eventually enough data will be collected to identify particular DNA signature variations for particular family lines, enabling us to place previously unlinked families into their respective branches of the Middaugh family tree.
