About us
Goals:
The first goal of the Melick Project is to determine the parentage of John Melick 1753-1834 of OH, and of John Malick 1762-1844, of WV. Descendants of both men claim Peter and Maria (King) Melick as parents. The book “The Story of an Old Farm” published by Andrew D Mellick in 1889 shows OH John as the son, but the WV John line has the old Bible, written in German, that shows their line as true descendants. It may take considerable testing of many descendants, but we hope DNA can differentiate between these two lines, show the true descendants of Philip and Maria, and show the true parentage of the other line.
Subsequent goals are to :
1.Prove or disprove paper genealogies.
2.Break through brick walls and solve dead ends.
3.Connect later immigrant lines to the earlier lines.
4.Validate existing research.
5.Determine areas for further research.
6.Link to homeland (Germany) and other countries
