We hope to achieve the following goals:

To determine possible relationships between the project participant lines in the United States.

To determine possible relationships between other project participant lines of Irish and Scottish descent (including those in the British Isles and other countries).

To assist project participants not sure of their lineage to determine which of these broad groups they might fit into.

To search for one male with the McGowan or surname variant (provided in the background) from each proven project participant line to volunteer for the Y-DNA test.
