The McCombs-McComb Project is a male lineage group open to individuals with the surnames McCombs, McComb, or any reasonable spelling variation. Females do not have a Y chromosome, and therefore cannot represent their father’s surname in a project such as this. Women who would like to research their direct paternal line (father’s father’s father and so on) using DNA may participate by having a male relative with this surname take a Y-DNA test as the representative of their family line. Although this project is not in any way associated with or endorsed by the Clan MacThomas Society, men from the various septs of this clan who do not have a have a project for their specific surname, are welcome to join this project and have their Y-DNA results displayed in our reports. Membership in this project is not limited to the United States or North America. It is open to men in any country where FTDNA sells its products.
