These were the original goals which have over the years been accomplished.

        1) Identify and contact male descendants from McCarty, South Carolina-Edgefield ancestors and encourage them to join the McCarty SC-Edgefield Project.

        2) Test at least one male descendant from each of the known ancestors of the South Carolina McCarty, McCarthy, McCartney, McCarter, families circa 1790.

        3) Contact via email, mail and in person, genealogical associations, historical societies, court houses, and libraries known to lie within McCarty South Carolina migration             areas beginning with Alabama, Georgia Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas.

        4) Re-visit Saluda, Edgefield, and Columbia South Carolina and outline the project to the various historical and genealogical societies, as well as to the various county court             houses. Discuss the goals and nature of the McCarty_SC Edgefield project and solicit their local support.
