Family legend is that our earliest McShane ancestor in the United States immigrated from Ireland.  This project was begun to see if our McShanes in the United States match participants currently living in Ireland. Early Y-chromosome testing of men living on both Continents corroborated this theory. Additional McShane males may want to make a visual comparison of their Y-DNA results to those who have already tested.  This Y-chromosome DNA project welcomes all males who carry the McShane surname or similar spelling, as well as those whose of other surnames whose Y-chromosome results match current McShane participants.
