Both in this project and the O'Neill project Mary Fern whos Family legend is that her earliest McShane ancestor in the United States immigrated from Ireland. This project was begun to see if our McShanes in the United States match participants currently living in Ireland. Early Y-chromosome testing of men living on both Continents corroborated this theory. Additional McShane males may want to make a visual comparison of their Y-DNA results to those who have already tested.
