About us
The McCracken Surname DNA Project began in September 2003 with Dr. Pat Oliver, PhD serving as the first Group Administrator. The Group Administrator is a volunteer position. The Group Administrator interprets members genetic results with tools provided by Family Tree DNA. The Group Administrator also has an interest in the history and genealogy of a particular surname.
When combined with traditional paper research and genealogical websites material, DNA analysis is a powerful tool to include in the genealogist’s toolbox. Genetic testing doesn't replace traditional genealogical research but can in most instances confirm, expand and compliment your knowledge about the history of your family.
The McCracken DNA Project members come from Australia, Canada, England, New Zealand, Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland, Scotland, South Africa, United States and Wales.
