Written records show the evolution of the name as: George Maxemeney (25 July 1667 London, St James Clerkenwell); George Macsum or Maxsum (11 February 1667(1668) London, St James Clerkenwell); George Maxina or Maxma (15 December 1670 London, St Sepulchre Holborn); George Maxsene (11 January 1691(1692) Maryland, St James Anne Arundel Co); George Macseny (11 August 1703 Maryland, Anne Arundel Co); George MackSeeney (1748 Maryland, Anne Arundel Co); George MacSeeney (1755 Maryland, Anne Arundel Co); Jacob MacCeney (1775 Maryland, Anne Arundel Co); Joseph McCeney (1832 Maryland, Anne Arundel Co).
