About us

In the early stages of this project we have learned that the Marberry surname is Haplotype I. This is the designation of Haplogroup I which denotes a probable Viking ancestry. If this holds to be true with further volunteers it will help to prove the statement in the History of Cheshire which says that the Marbury family of England is a younger version of the Vernon family of the town of Vernon in Normandy. In about 900 A. D. the Viking Hrolf (Rollo) conquered a portion of Normandy and settled in this area. William the Conqueror who invaded England in 1066 was the 5th great grandson of Hrolf the Viking.
