About us
The Marbury, Marberry and Marbery surnames in the United States are all believed to have originated with Francis Marbury who settled in Maryland about 1690. Francis Marbury was born in England abt. 1662. The purpose of this DNA project is to discover if these variations of the original Marbury spelling all share a common Y-DNA. The first DNA tests have shown that this family can be traced to Haplogroup I, which denotes a Nordic and probable Viking ancestry. The Marbury family of England was believed to have been a younger version of the Vernon family of Normandy and it is very probable that the Viking invasions of Normandy around 900 A. D. played a part in this fact. This is a Y-DNA test and you must be a male with one of these surnames or a variant.
