About us
The Mackin/McMakin Project was started in April 2006 by Marvin Mackin with the aim of investigating the connections between descendants of the McMakins and McMechens who came in the first wave of Scots-Irish immigrants to New Castle, Delaware, in the early 1700's.
Due to being without an administrator for several years, the McMeekin Project was merged into the Mackin/McMakin Project on December 7, 2021. The McMeekin Project was started in 2010 to connect descendants of Samuel McMeekin who migrated from Belfast, County Antrim, to Chicago, Illinois, in 1854. Y-DNA testing has revealed a connection between this line and the McMicking clan of Southwest Scotland.
