About us
The primary goal of this project is to develop a Y-DNA database of family members that will provide scientific evidence for male kinship identification. The intent is not to limit the research to one geographical region.
The project has a focus on surnames: Luck (and variations) and aims to place participant test results in context through the following objectives:
(a) Identify the Y-chromosome signature of each test taker and group it where possible according the FTDNA Y-chromosome Haplotree https://www.familytreedna.com/public/y-dna-haplotree/A
A first goal in genetic genealogy is to discover your haplogroup in general, and your Terminal SNP, in particular.
(c) Through (a), help test-takers establish how they are connected to other test takers using both genealogical and DNA evidence.
(d) Through (a), investigate the origin of each lineage, its distribution and association with surnames.
