The Luce Surname Project has members who fall into three haplogroups--M223, M253, and M269.

We have identified the Y-DNA signature of the male-line descendants of immigrant Henry Luce. We have 20 members with the surname Luce who can trace their descent from Henry through paper records. They all belong to haplogroup M223, and their Y-DNA signatures match each other with normal variations.

Three members have the surnames Luce and Lewis. They are not known to be descendants of Henry, but their Y-DNA matches. Another three members have a matching Y-DNA signature but do not have a Luce or Lewis surname.

Finally, two members with the surname Luce fall into haplogroup M269. These results suggest we might be seeing preliminary evidence of two Luce families that have an independent origin.
