Welcome to the Lawton project, which I established with the intention of documenting as many Lawton pedigrees and dna results as possible, regardless of where you live.  Anyone descended from a Lawton ancestor is welcome and encouraged to join us.   We have two distinct Lawton lines so far, which I will be adding information about shortly.   The project is primarily a y-dna project to determine the direct line of paternal Lawton descent, but Lawton cousins who have tested your autosomal dna or mtDNA are welcome here as well.   

My only requirement for joining, other than that you must be a Lawton descendant, is that you also provide me with a pedigree, preferably in gedcom format.  If you do not use genealogy software in which you can generate a gedcom file, a Word document or PDF document will suffice, and I hope you will also upload your family tree, at least your Lawton family tree, to your personal page.  If you need my assistance to do that, please just let me know.  I am always available to help if you need it.  

Please include the following information in your pedigree:   Dates and locations of birth, marriage and death for each person named in your tree.  Please include spouses if possible.  Often, locations and spouse names are the key to filling in gaps and breaking down those brick walls we all have.  It is also a tool I can use to recruit new members who have names in your tree in common with their tree.  I will maintain a list of contacts and emails so that I can facilitate contact between those of you who have names in common.  At all times, your privacy will be protected, however.  I will not share information with anyone without your prior consent, but I encourage you to share your information, so that we may all make progress.
