Ladinia DNA project

In the mountainous area of the Dolomites lives a population known as “ladini” or “retoromanci” with an own language, tradition and myth.
In modern times the area is divided between the provinces of Trentino, South Tyrol / Alto Adige and Veneto. By Rhaeto-Romance language and culture connected are populations in Friuli and Graubünden which all trace their origins back to the Rhaeti populations which later where Romanized and adopted their own form of vulgar Latin.
The project is focusing on the surnames genealogy and Y-DNA origin of Ladin people from the Dolomitic area and those who have hints to such origin or from close valleys.
