About us
This specialist YDNA haplogroup project was started in July 2021.
Haplogroup K in its widest sense includes all branches of the haplotree which are downstream of the parent branch point defined by SNP M9.
Almost all of these branches belong to one of the major haplogroups L to T inclusive which are covered by a wide range of haplogroup projects from large 'gateway' projects down to specialist projects covering just one branch.
Anyone who is confirmed or predicted to belong to one of these haplogroups does not qualify for membership of this project and should join the relevant project(s) for their branch.
This project is to cover the small number of branches which fall outside the major haplogroups and welcomes anyone who is confirmed through comprehensive SNP testing (ideally BigY) to belong to one of these branches.
We also welcome anyone who has a haplogroup designation of K-M9 through partial SNP testing or STR matching. The project administrators will review each case individually and advise on options for further testing. Members who are subsequently confirmed or considered very likely to belong to one of the downstream haplogroups will be advised on the most appropriate project for them.
