The Kilgore Family Project is open to all Kilgores who are interested in finding your common heritage through the science of DNA and sharing genealogical information directly with each other by uploading your individual Kilgore GEDCOM file to your personal page. Fellow project members are invited to view each other's GEDCOM family trees and, as project members, contact each other to share notes and information. No one from outside the project is allowed to share in this information. It is for the benefit of YDNA project members only. All variant spellings are welcome. If interested in joining please type KILGORE in the appropriate box and apply by listing your Kilgore ancestors as you know them to be. Please understand that only MALES can test the YDNA because only males have the YDNA chromosome. Females can request a male member of their known family to test for them. Please search for and find your grandfather father, uncle, great uncle, brother or cousin to test for you prior to applying. In addition, females can perform an mtDNA test which will not trace family trees via the male holding the surname. The mtDNA test will travel from daughter to mother, to her mother, to her mother etc., searching for comparable haplogroup data and offers results in the form of members of various projects who share someone of a common female haplogroup.
