About us

This project studies the roots of the name Keis, and other derivations, or similar sounding names to find ancestral roots. Some possible derivatives are: Kase, Kasse, Keiser, Kaiser. Some possible anglicized versions are: Case, Keys ... The name Keis is still used as a surname in many countries of the world including the US, and Greece. We will update this section as participants submit more names.

Please note: This project, unlike other projects, is not designed to locate near-in-time relatives. The primary purpose is to show the distant source of this family lineage. For these reasons, only a Y-DNA 12 marker test is required, but the greater number marker tests will help reveal more about the sources of this lineage.

It is already known that this family came from Normandy during the 1100's to England, and many from England to North America in the early 1600's. The main interest of this project is to determine, from where they came prior to the 1100's. Any existing families with the name Keis, who are living in Europe, or the fertile crescent region are especially encouraged to participate in this study.
