About us
The goal of the Katzenellenbogen Y-DNA Project is to identify the characteristic haplotype and haplogroup or Y-DNA genetic signature of descendants of the Katzenellenbogen rabbinical lineage by testing paternal descendants of the lineage with known pedigrees. This Y-DNA genetic signature may then be utilized to identify previously unknown descendants of the Katzenellenbogen rabbinical lineage, who may not have well-documented paper trails.
The project is open to all patrilineal descendants of the Katzenellenbogen rabbinical lineage and their genetic matches, who are interested in exploring their common heritage through sharing of Y-DNA test results and genealogical information.
A Y-DNA research study based on this project was published in 2016; please contact the project administrators for more information.
