About us
This group is dedicated to researching the family lines of the sons and daughters of our ancient Clan Chiefs. Is this conjecture supported by the Y-DNA and other evidence: As the male lines of the first sons reportedly went extinct in 1796, we are descendants of "other-than-first-sons-and-daughters" of our Clan?
This is a Y-DNA project. If your account does not have a Family Tree DNA Y-DNA test, please do not request to join.
We do have a separate Johnston Research Group for e-mail discussions working on connecting Johnston families with all forms of evidence. If you want to join the Johnston Research Group, send an e-mail to Administrator Wesley Johnston (see e-mail address to the left) with the subject "Joining the Johnston Research Group".
The Y-DNA focus is men who are positive for Y-DNA haplogroup I-Y8830 or any of its sub-clades. So, if you are in a different Y-haplogroup, this is not the project that will help your research.
