Records attest the presence of  Iyer/Iyengar/Gurukkal/Bhattar etc. in the region of present day South India and Sri Lanka since the Sangam period.
The goal of this project is to study the diversity and trace the ancient ancestry of today's descendants of these groups.
Ideally, participants would have at least one direct ancestor who belonged to these groups. Anyone curious is also welcome to join.
The only requirement is that ancestry information available for the earliest ancestor be provided during join request. Also provide Gotra if a paternal ancestor.
