About us
This project was started to investigate the "Milesian Theory" relating to arrivals in Ireland from the Mediterranean area.
Old history books, the Annals and publications by Bob Quinn triggered this investigation.
Also, several Irish born people with classic Irish surnames were reported by 23andMe to have traces of North African and Middle East autosomal DNA.
The old genealogies report relationships between certain Clans and family surnames. Some of these are being researched as part of the Milesian Theory test.
The old Kingdom of Ossory, (Counties Kilkenny and Laois, generally), as described by Keating, Hogan, Carrigan and others has been specifically studied.
Several reference BigY kits from the Kilkenny area have been used in this study.
A new, Feb 2025, sub group has been set up to chart the possible tracks of ancestors in the areas of Viking influence.
The Icelandic Sagas mention an Irish king of Ossory.
All "Non R-" haplotypes have been moved to the Munster Families project.
