Additional Testing

  1.  Additional Y-700 will be needed to validate the hypothesis #1 assumption that John b. 1609 and Henry b. 1615 were brothers consistent with the Wood theory.  Resolving the inconsistency with the current Henry testor (Kit #982150) will provide direction concerning further research on the Lancaster John (hypothesis #2) and the Merchant/Jamestowne John (hypothesis #3) scenarios.  Two new Henry White descendants have been identified and have agreed to be tested.  If Henry proves to be the brother of John b. 1609,  it is anticipated that a new SNP will be established as their father above I-FT410931.

  2. Additional testing on the other sons of Lancaster John b. 1601 might break out a new SNP for him which could better associate John White d. 1719 with the Gen 5/Gen 12 side of the Lancaster family (hypothesis #2) if this were valid.

  3. Finding and testing someone from the Merchant/ John White d. Bef. 1658 could immediately rule in or out hypothesis #3 and also determine if the Bristol/Jamestowne merchant White family is related to the Somerset group.

  4. The next closest group genealogically to our I-FT410059 Branch is a large cluster of Y-111 testers that appear to be descendants of the other Henry White in York County.  Based on STR distance, this group could be many generations prior to Richard White d. 1578.  If someone in that group agreed to Y-700 testing they would provide an accurate estimate of when the two lines converge which will be a great assistance in defining our line beyond generation 15.

Further Analysis of Y-700 STRs

  1. Setting up a separate FamilytreeDNA group project will provide additional research/Y-DNA tools which should augment STR analysis where SNP data appears to be roadblocked and undifferentiated.
