About us
DNA-testing can give us concrete evidence for identifying and separating family lines. Y-chromosome DNA testing is especially helpful because the male Y-chromosome is handed down, father to son, unchanged through the generations, except for rare mutations which, in themselves, can be helpful indicators of branching.
This project focuses on the Huntington surname.
The goal of the Huntington Surname Project is to distinguish between Huntington ancestral lines, worldwide. Any reasonable spelling variant is included. We require a Huntington ancestor and a suitable Y-DNA donor, that is a male descended in the direct paternal line from their Huntington ancestor.
Please note that, to participate meaningfully, you will need to share your male direct-line ancestry.
To date we have participants in the major haplogroups G and R1b.
