About us
We had the first test of someone who has the surname Hulsaert and had ancestors in NJ.
This test shows a haplogroup of R1b for the Hulsaert line. The other tests here and at other labs have had haplogroup I1 or I2 for the Hulse line.
With about 30,000 years separating the two haplogroups, and tests for descendants of Hulse lines coming from NJ that have had haplogroup I1
Around 1900 a book about NJ families stated that the author believed that all those in NJ with the name Hulse originally had the Name Hulsaert
and had changed it to Hulse.
This test shows a haplogroup of R1b for the Hulsaert line. The other tests here and at other labs have had haplogroup I1 or I2 for the Hulse line.
With about 30,000 years separating the two haplogroups, and tests for descendants of Hulse lines coming from NJ that have had haplogroup I1
we now have evidence to suggest that what was published in that book was not true.
However in the intervening time many family trees have shown the family as coming from the Hulsaert line from the Netherlands.
