I have wanted to analyze Hopkinson DNA for some time now.  Hopkinson is a rather uncommon surname, primarily originating in northern England.  The surname appears in the early 1400's in Kirmington Lincolnshire, and about 100 years later in Lancashire, Derbyshire and Yorkshire.  I have always assumed that all the Hopkinsons were originated from a common ancestor.  With DNA we can determine if this is true, or of there was more than one originator to the Hopkinsons in the world.
