THE HOOKS SURNAME DNA STUDY is an ongoing project open to any male descendant with the Hooks, or alternate spelling, surname. Our objective is to match up individuals or families who share a common male ancestor with the Hooks surname. This project is dedicated to exploring the origins of those bearing the Hooks surname, including its variants. Most of those in the US bearing this surname are believed to be descended from William Hooks who arrived in Virginia sometime in the early 1600's.

As William Hooks exact origins are unclear, we are interested in extending our project to those outside of this country in order to establish possible links to those bearing our surname abroad.
